(Times approx) \n  \nOur second day (19th October) is a visit to the Essex Record Office where we will be able to see how a record office works and what it can offer the family historian. SUMMARY:Lost and Found Tour
DESCRIPTION:The British Museum  \nSunken Cities – Egypt’s Lost Worlds \nWednesday 2nd November 2016 \n  \nSubmerged under the sea for over one thousand years two lost cities of Ancient Egypt were recently rediscovered.  Their story is told for the first time in a blockbuster exhibition in the British Museum.  Their beautiful treasures from colossal statues to intricate gold jewellery can be seen at last in this spectacular show.  \n  \nThe Lost and Found Tour combines a visit to the Sunken Cities exhibition with a Galleries tour in the company of an award winning Blue Badge Guide who will take us away from the crowds and without walking too far we will be taken to discover some of the lesser known treasures of the collection. During the tour we will see a beautiful lapis lazuli board game\, an intricate ivory carving from one of the first cities which Agatha Christie personally cleaned up with her Ponds Cold Cream! And the beautiful Benin Bronzes which astounded the critics when they arrived in Britain in the 1890s and much more. \n  \nThere is a cafe on site and we will be able to buy coffee on arrival and lunch in the middle of the day. You may of course prefer to bring a packed lunch. \n  \nThe coach will leave the WI Centre at 8.00am and the tour will finish at 4.45pm when we will head back to Essex. \n  \nCoach departs WI Centre 8.00am \nTickets for this very special day:  Members £42; Non-members £46 \n  \nClosing date for ticket applications: 2nd October 2016 \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Do you have a sewing machine that has not been used for a while or a new machine purchased after being inspired by ” The Sewing Bee?” \n  \nThe day will cover basic stitches\, neatening seams\, zip insertion and buttonholes. \nYou will go home with a bag which will have been constructed using techniques learnt on the day. (Materials to be provided). \nYou have a choice of Wednesday 25 of January 2017 or Saturday 28th January 2017 – 10am – 3pm \nDoors will open at 9.45 for tea/coffee. A list of requirements will be sent out with your ticket. \nPlease bring a packed lunch and glasses if you need them. \nClosing date is the 22nd of December 2016 \n
