SUMMARY:Resolutions Pros & Cons Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Would you like more information about the chosen resolution?\nWould you like your WI to make an informed decision when voting?\nCome and discuss the pros and cons of this year’s selected resolution – Bystanders Can be Lifesavers. \nBystanders Can be Lifesavers\nThere are over 30\,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests a year in the UK and less than one in ten people survive. Women have a lower chance of surviving than men. Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillating can more than double the chances of survival. We call on WI members to work together to increase public confidence and training in the delivery of CPR and to work with local organisations to help to improve access to defibrillators in their communities to give every person the best chance of surviving a cardiac arrest. \nWhat happens next?\nWI Members now have the opportunity to learn more about the issue\, and to discuss the resolution in their WIs before deciding how their delegate should vote at the Annual Meeting. \nEveryone is welcome – if you are new to resolutions\, or have been following them for years\, come along and hear about this year’s nomination – Bystanders Can be Lifesavers. \nThis event is for WI Members only. \nNOTE: NFWI also have a Resolution Webinar on the same day at 12noon.  Book the NFWI event instead (or as well as) via MyWI here https://tinyurl.com/4xyax32z.

SUMMARY:FEWI Darts Tournament 2025-26
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 25/26 season of FEWI’s darts tournament.  The year’s tournament is again being co-ordinated by The Brentwood Belles and we are very grateful for their help and expertise. \nTeam captains should sign up their team on Ticketsource and their WI will be invoiced separately.  WIs can have as many teams as they wish at £16 per team. There is no payment with theTicketsource booking – your WI will be invoiced directly.  You only need to purchase ONE TICKET PER TEAM not one per team member.  Sign ups close on 31st August 2025. \nEach team should consist of four paid-up members. Individual players may only play for one team throughout the tournament and may not swap teams or play for two teams mid-tournament\, even if both teams belong to the same WI. Each player must have their own darts. \nMatches will be played from Sept 25-Apr 26 and the final will be in May 2026 in Brentwood.  The location of the final is determined by the volunteers who are running the event.  If you would like the final to be held in a different location\, please do consider volunteering to run the tournament in future years. \nThe full rules\, fixtures and results throughout the tournament can be found here www.wiessexdarts.weebly.com  \nIn the first round\, teams will be put into groups based on location where possible.  Please note that if your WI enters more than one team we will try to allocate each team to a separate group.  The result of this is that you are likely to have to travel further to games around Essex.  If you indicate on your application that you can only play local matches this may cause difficulties with the group allocations so we appreciate you all being as flexible as possible with travelling to matches. \nTHIS IS A MEMBER ONLY TOURNAMENT

SUMMARY:Bespoke Lampshade Making with Shady Ladies
DESCRIPTION:Non members £48 \n \nThis workshop offers the opportunity to unleash your creativity and make a 30cm drum lampshade\, with a fabric of your choice\, which you can use in your home for either a table/floor lamp or ceiling pendant. \nNo experience necessary and no sewing is involved! \nYou will learn how to apply the lampshade PVC to get the best out of your fabric\, how to attach the rings and create neat rolled edges\, and master the technique of ‘tucking’ to achieve a polished\, professional finish. \nYour tutors for this workshop are Jo and Nicky the “Shady Ladies”. Cost includes the lampshade kit – all you need to bring is your choice of material.   You will need 0.5m length of fabric.  We recommend using a light to medium weight fabric\, either a cotton\, poly cotton or a linen/cotton mix\, and if you would like a patterned fabric we recommend a printed design.  Please choose your fabric carefully. If you choose to have a large print then make sure the depth of the design that you would like visible on your shade is a maximum of 25cm as you will need material to tuck in to your shade and will not be showing. \nPlease bring a mug for tea/coffee. \n

SUMMARY:Summer Lunch with author Ruth Leigh at Hunters Meet
DESCRIPTION:Non members £37 \n \nAs part of our programme of Summer Lunches\, come and join us for a sumptuous lunch. \n\nA fabulous 2 course lunch with coffee or tea at Hunters Meet\, Hatfield Heath with guest author Ruth Leigh.\nRuth is a novelist and freelance writer living in Suffolk. She has published 4 books in her Isabella M Smudge series of novels. Ruth will be entertaining us with “Lunch with Mrs Ashton Dennis” – a wonderful pseudonym used by a much-loved  (and much read) English author. Ruth will speak about “Mrs Dennis’s” life\, her writing and some unexpected elements in her novels. Readers may see this author writing novels about young women hunting for husbands\, but she is infinitely cleverer and more revolutionary than that. \n\nThe menu has a choice of main courses and desserts which you can select on the day plus tea and coffee.\nNon members welcome!
