SUMMARY:JACK THE RIPPER LONDON WALK - additional date
DESCRIPTION:We meet at Liverpool Street Station and visit the Whitechapel/Spitalfields area which in 1888 was the scene known to Scotland Yard as the Whitechapel Incident of 1888. Perhas better known as the murders of Jack the Ripper. Without doubt\, the most famous set of murders in the world. The walk will include visiting some of the murder sites and hearing the stories\, as well as learning about the living conditions of the poor in this area at the time. There are over 200 theories of who Jack the Ripper was. \n\nWalkers to make their own way to Liverpool Street Station and meet at the Kinder Transport statue inside the station (outside the main tube entrance) by 9.50am to then go and meet the guide\, Gary Egerton. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes.

SUMMARY:Royal Opera House Tour
DESCRIPTION:We will go behind the scenes which are normally off-limits to the general public.  You will see the vast staging\, workshops\, rehearsal studios\, costumes\, lighting and end up in the theatre looking down on the stage.  It is a working area and we will encounter staff going about their business.  There are stairs in places so wear sensible shoes to be comfortable. \nMake your own way to Covent Garden and meet inside the Royal Opera House on the ground floor in front of the complimentary cloakroom which is just beyond the café.  The tour starts at 10.45 and lasts for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.   \nThe facilities at ROH are very good and you can purchase refreshments in the café or visit Covent Garden.  The afternoon is yours to explore the area and make your own way home.

DESCRIPTION: Buttons can say so much and now is your opportunity to create 3 different types of buttons at this dabble day hosted by the CCC team. Each attendee will go home with their own unique Dorset button\, Yorkshire button and either 6 small or 4 large polymer painted clay buttons. Dorset buttons are a historic\, hand-crafted\, thread-covered button originating from 17th-century Dorset. Yorkshire buttons are similar to Dorset buttons but featuring a distinct stuffed\, ball-like shape. The polymer clay buttons will be shaped and painted on the day but will need to be baked at home. \nAll the materials you need are included in the price. SUMMARY:Osteoporosis Bone Density Heel Scan at WI Centre
DESCRIPTION:The Osteoporosis Assessment Service will be visiting WI Centre with their heel ultrasound scanner (McCue CUBAClinical) which does not use X-rays but safe ultrasound signals. The bone density measured in the heel is strongly related to the hip and spine and is an excellent surrogate scanning site for osteoporosis assessments.  A small amount of ultrasound gel is placed on a bare heel and the scan is performed within 3 minutes. DESCRIPTION:Non members £19 \n \nMeet at Liverpool Street station for a short underground journey to St Paul’s where we will hear about the history of the cathedral. Then we will cross the Millennium Bridge to the south bank of the Thames. Here we will learn that the area of Southwark was outside the jurisdiction of the City of London and therefore the home of the wild side of life\, brothels\, theatres\, prostitution\, etc. Passing the Globe\, the famous Clink Prison\, Drake’s Golden Hind and the Bishop of Winchester’s Palace – these areas will bring to life what is was like to live here in bygone days. The walk will finish in the area of the world famous Borough Market. \nWalkers to make their own way to Liverpool Street Station by 9.50am to then go and meet the guide\, Gary Egerton near the indoor Kindertransport statue. DESCRIPTION:Are you new to the roles or just thinking of taking on the role of President or Secretary?  You will hopefully find these sessions useful.  All WI Presidents\, Secretaries and committee members are welcome to attend these sessions.  As well as covering roles\, any updates on procedures and dispelling myths\, these events are great for problem solving and networking. \nWe have four sessions available:-\nTue 16/6/26 – Evening Zoom 7-9pm\nSat 27/6/26 – WI Centre/Hybrid 10-12noon\nSat 21/11/26 – Morning Zoom 10-12noon\nSat 18/7/26 – Harold Wood Memorial Hall 10-12noon \nIf you are attending in person at WI Centre\, the address is Whiteland\, Terling Road\, Hatfield Peverel\, CM3 2AG (What3words public.barstool.escorting).  Free parking available. \nIf you are attending in person at Harold Wood Memorial Hall\, the address is 53 Gubbins Ln\, Romford RM3 0PU (What3words voice.scan.chat).
