SUMMARY:Summer Lunch - The Victoria Wood Lunch - celebrating a National Treasure with Paulus
DESCRIPTION:Non members £45 \n \nAs part of our programme of Summer Lunches\, come and join us for a sumptuous lunch.\nOur after lunch speaker will be the very entertaining Paulus with his wonderful homage to the music and wit of the late\, great Victoria Wood. \nThe show debuted at the Edinburgh Festival 2022 where it was met with tremendous public and critical acclaim.  Paul and his accompanist\, Michael\, are currently touring in theatres across the county.  Paul\, a regular speaker at many WIs in Essex over the last few years\, has agreed to this one-off lunchtime performance especially for Essex WI members and friends. \nThe menu has a choice of main courses and desserts which you can select on the day plus tea and coffee.

SUMMARY:Osteoporosis Bone Density Heel Scan at WI Centre
DESCRIPTION:The Osteoporosis Assessment Service will be visiting WI Centre with their heel ultrasound scanner (McCue CUBAClinical) which does not use X-rays but safe ultrasound signals. The bone density measured in the heel is strongly related to the hip and spine and is an excellent surrogate scanning site for osteoporosis assessments.  A small amount of ultrasound gel is placed on a bare heel and the scan is performed within 3 minutes. SUMMARY:FIRST AID AWARENESS COURSE
DESCRIPTION:Do you often wonder how you would cope in a medical emergency? This one-day course provides a comprehensive set of practical skills needed by first aiders in most circumstances\, giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.  At the end of day you will be given a certificate to show your new skills. \nThe training will be provided by Acacia Business Services\, a local consultancy with many years of health and safety experience. \nEmergency First Aid at Work course contents is: \n\nLegislation and responsibilities in an emergency\nPrimary survey\nRecovery position\nResuscitation and AED\nChoking\nBleeding and Shock\nSeizures\nBurns and scalds\nForeign objects\n\nParticipants will need to be fit and able enough to kneel on the floor to take part in the training.  Appropriate casual\, comfortable clothing and footwear should be worn. \nPlease bring a packed lunch and a mug for tea/coffee. \nNon members welcome.
