SUMMARY:Lace Making for Beginners
DESCRIPTION:Non members £33 \n \nTutored by Penny\, who has over 20 years experience lace making\, you will learn the art of bobbin lace making.  You will be shown how to set up a lace pillow\, bobbin winding\, and the basic stitches needed to make your unique piece of lace.   \nAll the lace making equipment is provided for the day\, but please bring a small pair of scissors and any portable light or magnifier you normally use.   \nA working booklet is provided to take home with you so you can continue on your lace making journey at your leisure. \nParticipants required to bring to the session: \n\nsmaller scissors \nMagnifier and extra light if you require these\n\n\nNon members welcome. \nPlease bring a mug for tea/coffee.

SUMMARY:Get into Golf Day at Frinton Links Golf Club
DESCRIPTION:As part of our sponsorship scheme\, FEWI has teamed up with Essex Golf Ltd\, Frinton on Sea WI and the Frinton Links Golf Club to offer Essex members and their relatives the chance to have a go at the sport of golf with the aim of encouraging more ladies to take up the sport. \nEssex Golf are subsidising this event to make it affordable for all and we are very grateful for their support.  If this event is well supported by our WI members we will continue to hold similar events at other clubs around the county.  If you are interested in this event but somewhere else in Essex\, please email admin@essexwi.org.uk and advise us which area of the county you would like us to try and organise. \nThe event schedule will be as follows:- \n\nArrival around 10.30/11am (tba depending on final numbers) for tea/coffee and pastries\nMeet PGA professionals\, Essex Golf county officials and some of our Federation Trustees\nLessons until around 3.30pm\nOption extra of an Afternoon Tea in the clubhouse at 4pm\n\nFree parking on site.  If both car parks are full then there is free parking on The Esplanade and side rows. Please do not park in the hatched areas of Second Avenue you’ll likely get a ticket.\nPostcode to club is CO13 9EP\nDress code is relaxed – suitable footwear\, trainers or golf shoes\, and comfortable sports attire.\nEquipment – if you are able to bring a set of suitable clubs then please do so but equipment will be available to borrow if you are a complete beginner!\nExperience – this day is aimed at novices and complete beginners but if you are already a golfer but you would like a family member to get to know the sport in a friendly\, relaxed way then please do book yourselves up.\nWeather – Unless there is a particularly horrendous forecast the event will go ahead as planned so please bring appropriate clothing if rain is forecast.\nUnder 18s – If you are booking for someone under 18\, please note that they must be accompanied by a participating WI Member who will be responsible for their safety and well-being while taking part in the event\, and they should not be left unsupervised at any time. \nThis event is for Essex members and their family members only. \n\nPlease note that Frinton on Sea WI are holding their annual golf day on the same date.  This will be an 18 hole individual stableford tournament.  Please contact Frinton on Sea WI on m.viv48@gmail.com to take part.\nIf you would like to book JUST the afternoon tea\, please contact Frinton on Sea WI on frintonwil8@googlemail.com

SUMMARY:JACK THE RIPPER LONDON WALK - additional date
DESCRIPTION:We meet at Liverpool Street Station and visit the Whitechapel/Spitalfields area which in 1888 was the scene known to Scotland Yard as the Whitechapel Incident of 1888. Perhas better known as the murders of Jack the Ripper. Without doubt\, the most famous set of murders in the world. The walk will include visiting some of the murder sites and hearing the stories\, as well as learning about the living conditions of the poor in this area at the time. There are over 200 theories of who Jack the Ripper was. \n\nWalkers to make their own way to Liverpool Street Station and meet at the Kinder Transport statue inside the station (outside the main tube entrance) by 9.50am to then go and meet the guide\, Gary Egerton. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes.
