Dolphin WI Heads Back to Ally Pally!
The Dolphin WI, got to display their knitted Braintree at Alexandra Palace again last week, at the Knitting & Stitching Show. You may have been lucky enough to see it for real at our Diverse Essex County Show in July. They started knitting it two years ago, when they first created St Michael’s Church. Since then they have replicated many more well known buildings from in and around Braintree. A big well done to The Dolphin WI from us all at FEWI – we’re very proud of you all – the skills they have demonstrated are truly amazing.

2017-10-24 Essex Federation Centenary Mugs!! Get them whilst you can, very few remaining!! They’d make a lovely Centenary momento for that someone who is just to tricky for words to buy for, and whilst we are still in the Centenary Year of the Essex Federation, it is perfect timing!
Oak Group Annual Meeting 2017
Oak Group held this years meeting in the lovely Thaxted church. Convenors, Guildhall Girls, welcomed everyone with a bucks fizz and there were a variety of stalls to wander round. The speakers were excellent and the evening was enjoyed by all.
FEWI Denman Weekend 2017
In September, a coachload of FEWI members made their way to Denman just in time to coincide with our 100th birthday! Denman eve had their record books open at the appropriate page for us. It was a wonderful weekend with many activities completed and many new friends made.
Can You Help Us?
Can you help solve a mystery? The wonderful piece of work shown in the picture was recently found at WI Centre. There wasn’t any covering paperwork with it giving details of who had made it or which WI they were from. We are hoping someone has information on the piece as it has now been cleaned & framed ahead of being put on display in the Federation’s meeting room. It would be great if it’s creator & WI could be mentioned alongside the work. If you have any clues please get in touch with the Archive Team via the Federation office.
