As usual we held two carol concerts.  The afternoon event featured Nancy May and Elmwood Primary School Choir with readings from Federation Trustees and staff and WI members.

The evening concert featured Nancy May again, together with the Chelmsford Silver Band.

The band joined Federation Chair, Moyra Jackson as the Narrator, Federation Trustee, Jan Curtis as the various ghosts and Terling WI member Clare Wood as Scrooge to give a short rendition of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.  This involved much laughter as the performers “acted” their way around the Cathedral and through various costume changes.

Here are the pictures from both events.  You can also find videos of the play on our YouTube channel here.

We had a lovely day at Cliffs Pavilion in June 2023.  Gregg Wallace was our speaker and Danny Foster (formerly of Hear’Say) was our entertainment in the afternoon.

Here is retiring Federation Chair Jan with Gregg.

Earth Day Rally 2023

On Earth Day, Saturday 22nd April 2023, Essex WI Climate Ambassadors Jill Bruce, Andrea Cooper and Wendy Hubbard joined friends and WI Climate Ambassadors from other Federations at the Big One, the rally and march in Westminster organised by XR and attended by many other peaceful organisations for their biodiversity day, We were encouraged to dress as the animals that are threatened by climate change and habitat loss, Andrea makes a very fetching leopard! We have pictures of some of the amazing creations, the many families attending with small children, and the many retired health care professionals who, like us, fear for our own futures and that of our families, as well as all the birds, fish, insects, plants and mammals that we have already lost, or will lose soon.
