Talk: Shetland Lace
A talk by Elizabeth Williamson followed by a Q&A session. Elizabeth will talk about the history of lace knitting in Shetland and her own family’s history of knitting. She will also discuss her experiences of growing up in Shetland surrounded by knitters and being taught to knit at the age of 3. Elizabeth will be showing examples of her work and that of her family.
Workshop: An introduction to Shetland Lace Rosebud pattern
In this workshop, Elizabeth will take you through the basic stitches and techniques of Shetland Lace knitting. At the end of the session, you will have a swatch of the Rosebud pattern on a garter base. It is a great pattern and can be used in different arrangements to form the centre of haps or shawls and scarves. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels as long as you can already knit.
You will need Size 4mm knitting needles and either lace weight or 4ply/sock weight preferably in the light colour so that you can see your stitches easily. Please see pre-workshop instructions on your confirmation.
You have various options of tickets, please select your preferred choice when booking.
