HEALTH SCREENING

22nd September 2027 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Osteoporosis Assessment Service will be attending on the above date when the following health checks will be available

Osteoporosis Fracture Risk Assessment  (£30)

Ultrasound Bone Density Heel Scan

The machine used to perform the test is a heel ultrasound scanner (McCue CUBAClinical) which does not use X-rays but safe ultrasound signals. The bone density measured in the heel is strongly related to the hip and spine and is an excellent surrogate scanning site for osteoporosis assessments.

A small amount of ultrasound gel is placed on a bare heel and the scan is performed within 3 minutes. The results are printed and explained to each client at the time of their consultation.

Cardiovascular Assessment  (£25)

Artery elasticity measured to estimate the degree of artery wall damage in the coronary vessels of the heart.

We employ the use of a non-invasive monitoring device which measures an arterial wave pattern which provides information on the condition of the main artery in the arm – the brachial artery.  Five key patterns are recorded with A & B being seen in healthy arteries and C, D & E being an indication of poor cardiovascular profiles.  A standard blood pressure device simply produces data on the maximum and minimum pressures recorded, and does not provide any information on the condition of the artery wall.

Cholesterol Test (£15)

Non Fasting blood test

A small sample of blood is obtained from a client’s finger for analysis on a Lipotrend cholesterol analyzer.

Initial risk assessment for hypercholesterolemia (Raised cholesterol) can be based upon a total non-fasting cholesterol sample. Individuals found to have raised Total Cholesterol profiles will, depending upon other associated risk factors, be encouraged to seek a fasting cholesterol assessment.

PSA (Male Prostate Blood Test) (£30)

MALES aged 45 years + (for your husbands and partners)

Finger blood sample to assess the presence and concentration of prostate specific antigen in circulation.

A small sample of blood is placed upon a cassette which measures the concentration of PSA in the sample and provides an immediate visual result if levels are above the normal range.
