Would you like to learn the skills that are tested on the BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee? If yes then why not join our workshop to learn/improve your machine sewing techniques and knowledge. The workshop will cover: pattern markings, checking a pattern will fit, cutting out; putting in zips both normal and invisible; seam finishes; and buttonholes and hems. Your tutor is Susan Sparrow who has over 25 years experience and qualifications in teaching clothes making and soft furnishings to adults.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine and be able to use its basic functions.
Plus spare needles and bobbins and don’t forget to pack the lead.
Machine Instruction booklet.
Basic and invisible zip feet plus any other feet your machine has.
Sewing Machine thread, pins, tape measure, scissors, hand sewing needles and thimble if you use one.
A garment pattern that you would like to alter to fit you.
Approximately 1/2 meter of any type of fabric (not heavy curtain weight – an old pillow case or 2 tea towels would be ideal).
An invisible zip any colour minimum length 30 cm or longer.
