What better way can you celebrate St. George’s Day than in the company of fellow WI Members enjoying An English Medley?  This day will consist of three different presentations that represent  one  particular aspect of England.

The morning sessions will start with a talk by Claire Matthews, a trustee of the Gardens of Easton Lodge, Great Dunmow, giving an illustrated talk on “A History of Easton Lodge, the Countess and her Gardens” www.eastonlodge.co.uk/

This will be followed by a fashion show hosted by Donna Knight, Manager of Eastex, the Quadrant, Chelmsford, showcasing English fashion brands. The show will feature outfits for all occasions and for all shapes and sizes and will be modelled by members of our hosts for the event, Great Notley WI.

As April 23rd is the birthday of Shakespeare in the afternoon we welcome Simon Bridge whose talk will be “Shakespeare-The Real Thing”.  Simon who is an actor promises a lively and entertaining talk on William Shakespeare, 16th Century London and the Globe Playhouse. Complete with audience participation – “Elizabethan Style!” Simon’s profile can be viewed at www.simonbridge.co.uk

During the day there will be opportunities to purchase from Country Markets and our own Essex WI shop.  Tea and coffee will be provided upon arrival and at lunch time but you are required to bring your own packed lunch. There will be a raffle too, maybe this time you will be lucky.

These County Days are a great opportunity to learn something new, renew old friendships and meet new WI colleagues, so do come along.
