Gestingthorpe Walk

Join Wickhams St Pauls WI (who are leading the walk) to Gestingthorpe’s Roman Settlement.
 
A walk across farmland to Hill Farm, owned by local historian Ashley Cooper. Many interesting Roman remains found on the farm during the last century together with old agricultural artefacts, can be viewed in his museums.
Time will be allowed for us to enjoy tea and biscuits.
A different return cross country path passes the site of the ancient Roman villa and settlement.
 
Wednesday 4th September 2019
 
Meet at 10.15 for 10.30 start at Gestingthorpe Village Hall, Church Street, CO9 3BB (cars can be parked on the grass at the side of the road)
 
Approximately 3 mile walk.
 
Ticket cost £3.50 (for admin, tea/coffee and biscuits and hall hire)
OR Ticket cost £11.50 for above, plus a Ploughman’s lunch and dessert.
Please state on ticket order which one.
 
For information there is a little rural pub a mile up the road , The Pheasant, Audley End CO9 3AU. Advisable to book ahead, on 01787 465010.
If this doesnt take your fancy, food can be obtained at nearby Wickham St Pauls – Victory Inn or Spencer’s Farm Shop and Castle Hedingham where there is a great little cafe and two pubs!
